Corinne Colen designed and crafted The Culinary Loft to share her passion for the culinary arts with fellow gourmands. She envisioned a space that would allow her to share the art of eating well and living well, from practiced chefs to beginners in the kitchen.
A passion for food and sensual imagery first evolved into a career as a commercial food /still-life photographer in New York City. The Culinary Loft was a natural extension of this artistic development, providing a warm and inviting atmosphere where her impressive roster of clients can savor the art of cooking while enjoying the company of their guests.
Before coming to New York, Corinne lived amid the awe-inspiring natural beauty of Big Sur, California. In this rustic environment, without electricity, she and a partner developed a five-acre property, overlooking the Pacific Ocean into a bountiful, rigorously organic garden, and nurtured it along with 25 chickens and a grove of fruit and nut trees.
Here she experimented with the freshest fruits, lush garden vegetables, baking bread, making fruit preserves, grilling line-caught fish and frying fresh-laid eggs, continually perfecting recipes inherited from family and friends. Corinne came to learn, and appreciate the total cycle of food preparation: how much the cultivation of the soil itself completely affects food’s nutritional balance and its vibrant flavors. She learned that few things are more satisfying than being a part of developing those dynamic, bursting flavors of freshly harvested foods, prepared simply, and served in comforting surroundings.
When you feel comfortable and "at home" in the kitchen, culinary confidence grows. Corinne founded The Culinary Loft as a means to share that confidence with enjoyment to all those who come.
